At the judge's house, in the middle of a banquet, the pilgrim pointed to the roast rooster on the table and stated with conviction: “I am as certain to be innocent as this rooster crowing when they hang me.”

The statement provoked laughter among those present, but the judge, intrigued by the man's faith, decided not to touch the rooster. When the moment of execution arrived and the pilgrim was about to be hanged, the impossible happened: the roasted rooster stood up and crowed vigorously. With his heart filled with amazement and remorse, the judge rushed to the execution site, interrupted the execution and saved the man. Eventually, the true identity of the thief was discovered, proving the pilgrim’s innocence.
