The Joy of My Childhood in Angola

Project Type

sonnet

Date

12/2020

Location

Idaho, USA

Reflecting on my childhood in Angola, football was more than just a sport; it was a celebration of life, joy and friendship. This image of children playing in the rain brings back those unforgettable memories.

Born in Kissanga Kungo and raised in Waku Kungo during times of transition, I found happiness in the simple things, like playing football with friends on muddy pitches. This scene of laughing boys reminds me how innocence and togetherness can overcome any challenge.

The diversity of these children reflects the inclusive spirit that I have always valued. From my days at the Narciso do Espírito Santo Industrial and Commercial School in Santa Comba, Cela, to my career at Micron, I believe in the power of human connection.

These moments of pure joy are powerful reminders that happiness can be found in the simplest experiences, highlighting the enduring power of camaraderie and sport.

Sonnet:

Oh, golden childhood, a time of pleasure,
Where the rain is a party and the countryside a sea,
And the laughter of children at dawn,
Reflects the harmony that guides us.

In the lands of Angola, where I grew up,
Football became more than a game,
It was friendship, life that blossomed,
A shared dream that was formed.

Today, far away, my longing heart,
Remembers the simplicity and unity,
Games of such a beautiful time.

In every laugh, in every friendly soul,
I see again the goal that always connects us:
Children's joy, that brings emotion.
