The Conquest of Peace
In the path of pain, I saw storms,
And the time that passed, cruel, voracious,
Took away my fury, gave me more audacity
Wisdom in thirstier souls.

In the anxieties and wars, I saw the temptations,
Searching for the having, the being that is not made,
But it was in the gentle time, there, of peace,
That I learned from the long, slow struggles.

It is not in gold or power that lies
The greatest conquest that the soul emerges,
But rather in the calm glow of what believes.

In peace is found the reward of the journey,
In the years that flow into the dawn,
It is in it that I found my apogee.
