The Truth and the Lie

Project Type

The search for truth is one of humanity's oldest and noblest journeys. However, it is common that, even when faced with the truth, many choose to believe the lies that offer them comfort or security. The sonnet "Truth and Lies" explores this conflict between reason and illusion, between clarity and deception. It challenges us not to be seduced by the veil of lies, but rather to fight for the truth with firmness and wisdom, recognizing that the light of truth is the only path to true freedom.

To know the truth, to see clearly,
And yet to believe in illusion,
Is a cruel betrayal of the weak mind,
That loses itself in shadows, without defense.

Reason fades, without strength,
Deceived by the veil of seduction,
Rejects the light, prefers darkness,
Turns away from the beacon of certainty.

May the man be wise and resolute,
Seek the truth with fervor and struggle,
Do not let himself fall into the same mourning.

Accept reason, its brute force,
And do not make a cult of lies,
For truth is the absolute light.

In this sonnet, the clear message is that truth must be sought with determination, for only it has the power to dispel the shadows of illusion. The mind that gives in to lies loses its capacity for discernment, allowing itself to be imprisoned in a self-imposed darkness. Therefore, it is up to each of us to strengthen our reason and our search for truth, rejecting the cult of lies. Only then will we find the absolute light that guides us towards wisdom and clarity of mind.
