The Clash of the Worlds

Project Type

Sonnet

Date

10/2024

Location

Idaho, USA

This sonnet reflects on the eternal tension between the unchanging force of nature and the technological creations of humanity. Inspired by a powerful image where an eagle, a symbol of freedom and natural power, captures a drone in mid-flight, the poem explores the confrontation between the natural world and the artificial world. Through verses that evoke the supremacy of nature, the sonnet suggests that, despite human progress, nature maintains its dominance and its role as guardian of the harmony of the world.

In the vast sky, the bird rises proudly,
With firm claws, it holds the machine,
Technology that trembles in its hand,
But there is no iron that can tame the native.

Immortal nature, captive force,
Against the ingenuity of man is structured,
And in the lofty flight of the creature,
The wind, the sky, the light so alive, conquer.

No matter how much the ingenuity rises and defies,
In the end, it is to the earth that it returns,
Submissive to the law that life strives.

The eagle on the drone confesses,
And in its victory it is announced
That nature is the eternal promise.
