The Gift of Understanding

This sonnet reflects on the importance of an educated and elevated mind, capable of discerning and understanding different perspectives without the need to reject or accept them immediately. It is in the elevated mind that resides,
The gift of discerning with breadth,
Ideas that are not born of reason,
But that the restless soul does not divide.

In the vast sea of beliefs, humility,
Is a safe harbor in the midst of the vastness,
Because knowledge is not mere acceptance,
But the gift of listening without seeing evil.

The world is vast, and in it each voice,
Echoes in tones that, if well heard,
Reveal truths that are not alone.

In an open mind, the days are flowery,
Because it is understood that there are, among us,
Multiple paths, not just senses.
