The Burden of Life

At this stage of my life, at 65 years old, the weight I carry transcends the physical. It represents a long journey of challenges, responsibilities, and sacrifices for those I love. This sonnet reflects the continuity of this struggle, where fatigue may arise, but the will to protect and support never fades.

I carry on my shoulders the burdens of a lifetime,
Homes, memories, dreams to sustain,
And time, without stopping, comes to weigh me down,
But my strength continues to be reborn.

In the eyes of those I support, I see the struggle,
Of those who trust me to move forward,
And even in the midst of fatigue to embrace me,
My soul is made of light, never surrendered.

Each tear mixed with sweat,
Is proof of the path already taken,
That time and age do not censure.

And so I continue, strong, determined,
Because the love that always endures in me,
Makes the burden I carry light.
