Hello everybody

It is a great pleasure to join this wonderful group. My name is João Elmiro da Rocha Chaves, I am an electronics engineer by profession, but one of my greatest passions is writing, especially creating sonnets in the style of Luís de Camões. I enjoy exploring themes that range from my homeland, Angola, and Portugal, to my personal and cultural experiences. Writing for me is a way of connecting with my identity, and of sharing deep emotions.

I look forward to meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and perhaps even sharing some of my poems with you. I believe that friendship in old age is a wonderful opportunity to enrich our lives with wisdom and joy.

Lusíadas de Antigora, Epopeias Novas a Trazer

Through seas never before sailed,
In writing I find my safe harbor,
I build a bridge of verses, with zeal I give,
Here is my voice that resounds clear and firm in the pure air.

From Angola to America, I carry in my heart
The flame of the tongue, in sonnets, such deep love.
Here I present myself, with enthusiasm and respect,
In friendship, I seek inspiration and fervor in you.

Among friends of this mature age, the soul is festive,
In each verse, a piece of me,
In the search for the eternal, which is revived in writing.

May our meetings be, then,
Not only conversations, but poetry and song,
In words, may we find our reason.
