Vanguard and Rearguard

In the struggles of life, so distinct they go,
Stupidity, in the light, seeks its stage;
It shows itself without fear, without any falcon,
In the front line, its exhibition.

But the sagacious mind, with discretion,
Prefers to trace its path in the shadows;
It observes the world, silent, without commotion,
From the rear it makes its mansion.

This game of looks, front and back,
Reflects the contrast of the human universe:
One calls for attention, the other contemplates.

Thus is drawn the dance of life,
Where foolishness, although extended,
Is always overcome by prudence.
